In order to access the authorization wizard for Finale on Windows devices, it will be necessary to first run Finale as an administrator. Users that don't have administrator access, such as on a school controlled device, will need to have the appropriate parties assist.  Normally, this is accomplished by right-clicking the Finale desktop shortcut and choosing Run as Administrator.

However, if you do not have or removed your Finale desktop shortcut, or the usual method of running as administrator does not open the wizard, you may need to use one of the following alternative methods:

 

If you have a Finale desktop shortcut:

  1. Right-click the icon and choose Properties. The properties menu for Finale appears.
  2. Select Shortcut and then Advanced. The advanced properties menu appears.
  3. Select Run as Administrator and make sure it is check marked.

  4. Select Ok > Apply > Ok. 
  5. Double-click the Finale desktop shortcut and click Yes when prompted. Finale opens.
  6. When prompted, click Authorize Now and complete the in-app authorization wizard.

 

If you have a Finale taskbar shortcut:

  1. Close Finale if it is open.
  2. Right-click the Finale taskbar shortcut. 
  3. Right-click the Finale above Unpin from Taskbar. 
  4. Select Run as Administrator
  5. Click Yes when prompted. Finale opens.
  6. When prompted, click Authorize Now and complete the in-app authorization wizard.

If you do not have either Finale shortcut: 

  1. Close Finale if it's open.
  2. On your keyboard, press the WINDOWS LOGO key + R to open the Run window.
  3. Type "C:\Program Files\MakeMusic\Finale\27" and press ENTER.
  4. Find the application icon named "Finale.exe" and right-click it. A menu appears.
  5. Select Run as Administrator from the menu, and click Yes when prompted. Finale opens.
  6. When prompted, click Authorize Now and complete the in-app authorization wizard.

Or:

  1. On your keyboard, press the WINDOWS LOGO key.
  2. Select the Finale folder from the alphabetical list of applications on the left-hand side.
  3. Right-click Finale and select More > Run as administrator.
  4. Click Yes when prompted. Finale opens.
  5. When prompted, click Authorize Now and complete the in-app authorization wizard.
