Disabling Automatic macOS Updates

Disabling automatic macOS updates within System Settings can help prevent unexpected compatibility issues or changes in performance with proprietary software that is not deemed compatible with a new version of macOS.

 

To disable automatic macOS updates in System Settings:

1. Select System Settings from the Apple logo menu.

2. Within System Settings, select General.

3. Select Software Update.

4. Select the information icon next to Automatic Updates.

Select the information icon next to "Automatic Updates".

 

5. If Install macOS updates is toggled on, click to toggle it off and cick Done.

 Ensure Install macOS updates is toggled off and click Done.
