Downloading & Authorizing Finale
Downloading & authorizing registered Finale products will remain available for the foreseeable future.

In some cases, the Garritan Instruments for Finale library (GIFF) may not install correctly or may need to be reinstalled if an issue has occurred. If you do need to uninstall GIFF and reinstall, the steps below will guide you through this.

 

  1. Close all open programs (you may leave your email program open to view these instructions)
  2. Hold down the WINDOWS key on your computer keyboard and type the letter "R" to open the Run dialog box
  3. Type or copy & paste the following:
    • appwiz.cpl
  4. Click OK
  5. In your Programs and Features list, right-click on Garritan Instruments for Finale and choose Uninstall
  6. Hold down the Windows key (to the left of your spacebar) and type the letter "R" - this will open the Run dialog box
  7. Type or copy/paste the following:
    • C:\Program Files\Garritan
  8. Click OK - this will open a File Explorer window
  9. Right-click the Garritan Instruments for Finale folder listing, and choose Delete from the pop-up menu
  10. Empty the Recycle Bin and restart your computer
  11. Download a new copy of the Finale installer from your MakeMusic account by following this link:
  12. Follow the steps in this Knowledge Base article to reinstall Garritan Instruments and the ARIA Player:

 

Mac

  1. Close Finale and the ARIA Player (if either are open)
  2. Open a new Finder window
  3. Choose Go > Applications from the dropdown menu bar (at the top of the screen)
  4. In your Mac's Applications folder, find the "Garritan Instruments for Finale" folder (if present) Drag it to the Trash
  5. Choose Go > Go to Folder from the dropdown menu bar
  6. Type or copy/paste the following:
    • /library/preferences
  7. Locate the following file and drag it to the Trash:
    • com.Garritan.Instruments for Finale.plist
  8. Choose Go > Go to Folder from the dropdown menu bar
  9. Type or copy/paste the following:
    • /Users/Shared
  10. Drag the "GIFF_Samples" folder to the Trash, if present
  11. Empty the Trash and restart your computer
  12. Download a new copy of the Finale installer from your MakeMusic account by following this link:
  13. Follow the steps in this Knowledge Base article to reinstall Garritan Instruments and the ARIA Player:
