I have been using PrintMusic 11 for many years, but now when I try to use the Setup Wizard to create a new file it goes through the steps and crashes when I hit the "finish" button. I get an error that says, "Unhandled exception caught." I never had this problem before and have not upgraded my OS in several years. I Can open a new document from the Lead Sheet, and I can open already existing documents. But the setup wizard no longer works. I tried deleting the plist files but that did not help. I tried reinstalling the application, but even changing the privacy setting in the preferences did not let me reinstall the app, since the Mac no longer seems to allow apps from "unknown" developers.

Depending on your OS, it should be possible for you to unlock and override the "Unknown Developer" lockout. I know I have done it on occasion on my 2012 Mac laptop.

I have looked online and it talks about going to the Security and Privacy panel and, at the bottom, selecting the "open anyway" button. I get passed that point for the "Finale Install PrintMusic" notice, but when it continues to install I get another message that says, ""InstallProduct.mpkg" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." And "InstallProduct.mpkg" is not recognized as an "app" so the Security and Privacy panel does not have an "open anyway" button. So it fails.

Sierra v10.12.6

PrintMusic 2011 is supposed to work on this OS version, and has in the past. But for some reason lately, the Setup Wizard quits when I get to the "finish" button.

PrintMusic 2011 is supposed to work on this OS version,

No it isn't. I used to test these things with every release but those old Macs were taking up desk space so I don't do that anymore. The following is best as I can remember:

PrintMusic 2014.5 for Mac was discontinued 5? years ago and was somewhat compatible with Sierra. I could make 2011 work by installing in Mavericks and upgrading the MacOS from there. There was an issue with the licensing manager if installed new for which there was no workaround. Ahhhh… just found this that I posted this three years ago:

If on a Mac, 2011 will not authorize over Yosemite or later. If installed on an earlier OS and that OS updated, it may work but 2011 has serious “issues” over Sierra and does not work at all over High Sierra and later

The good news is that you have an inexpensive upgrade path to the current version of Finale; the bad news is that the minimum system requirement for Finale 27 is MacOS 10.14 Mojave.
