I'm planning on making the switch to Finale soon, and have downloaded the latest trial. I also installed the NotePerformer trial, as I plan to use the two in tandem as recommended by a well-seasoned Finale user (I'm familiar with NP I just haven't used it on my own). I'm wondering about this general bug I'm experiencing though, every time I make a new file in the wizard or even in general, upon the score's creation each instrument flashes an error that reads "The requested virtual instrument plugin could not be found". At first, I thought this may be a restriction with the Finale trial but I figured there would be a more refined notification if it was a limitation, this just seems like an error. I'm guessing I did something wrong in the installation process, but I have looked online and tried various solutions. I've moved the .dll files around and changed the location and it still doesn't fix it. I followed the Finale Quickstart guide on NP's very as far as I could but it still seems something is wrong.

Are there any known solutions for this? It's possible that this is just a NotePerformer issue, in which case I'm sorry for posting this here. There's very minimal discussion of this online and I really just want to get this squared away. If anyone knows anything your help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I can remember (and with a Finale/NP file I just tested), I have had no problems using Finale and NP together. When NP first came out for Finale a few versions ago, there was a playback delay starting, but more recent versions of Finale have dealt with that.

Make sure one's MIDI/Audio > Sound Map Priority lists NP at the top before loading or Reassigning the sounds. That's the only advice I can think of off the top of my head.

Without knowing what OS and version of Finale, no one’s going to know the correct answer. If a Mac, also need to know if Intel or Apple Silicon.

The trial version of Finale does not install the Aria Player, last I checked.

I don't know the answer to your specific problem. I can tell you that NP3 and Finale 27.2 work together perfectly on my stock Windows Dell desktop. I usually work in Finale with the included Finale sounds and switch it over to NP3 when I am through.

NP3 hesitates just a second when I stop play which is very minor but I prefer to not have Finale do that. That's why I use the included sounds for work. I have most all the Garritan sounds. Sometimes I mix them with NP3 sounds to get the best playback I can.

The addition to Finale of NP3 and Perfect Layout makes Finale a totally different product.  MM should take note of that but I suspect they will not.
