Open it in 27. Depending on the fonts you used in 2006, your old files may open up perfectly or you may have to tweak the fonts to find substitutes that display properly.

I did a huge amount of work in Finale 1998, 2000 and 2002 (I upgraded every other year). None of those files ever gave me grief when opened and saved in later versions. Files that I created in 1989 used other fonts so it took a bit of work getting them to display properly—but I did.

Robert I would first upgrade to 27.3. No reason not to and it is a fantastic upgrade. It is a free upgrade.
