Hello,

I just bought a Qmini Alesis keyboard for Finale, and when I use speedy entry, it enters only rest. I have 'use a midi device for input' on, I can see that the right note enters before becoming a rest, and also everything works (right pitch, no rest) when I use simple entry. So it is about the configuration with speedy entry. I tried everythig without success. An important info: i use on my other USB a number pad for the length in speedy entry (which I don't need for simple entry). When I first the number pad and then alesis, it writes a lot of rests and then pitchs (the right one). When I press my Alesis first (key stays pressed), and then the right duration, it enters a note which becomes immediately a rest...  Best

Mac or Windows? Do the keyboard and keypad require drivers? At first glance, this is looking like a driver conflict in Windows. How close am I?

Dear Mike,

Thanks for your answer.

I am on Mac 0S 12.10. I don’t think it is a keyboard driver problem: on the audio configuration, the keyboard is recognized (there is entry). And what is singular, is that all works properly on simple entry modus (the right notes are selected and I can enter them), but on speedy entry, the notes are recognized but become almost immediately a rest. I don't really understand….

best,

Ok. I would update to MacOS 12.6 in case there is an OS bug.

Otherwise, it’s likely that your external number pad may be the issue. The easiest workaround is to get an extended Apple keyboard, Bluetooth or wired, with a built in number pad and use that instead of whatever keyboard you are using now. If that works, declare victory. I would buy from Amazon so, that if it doesn’t, you can return it within 30 days.

Because of my handicap, I have a lot of experience with multiple input devices and the MacOS including direct talks with Apple Engineering. Very long story short, this doesn’t always work.
