Hello Friends,

I'm seeing something that I have have never seen before in Finale 2012.

The right-click functionality is totally debilitated.

A typical use-case is where I click on the measure tool (from the Main Tool Palette) and then highlight a measure and then right-click.  I'm used to seeing a flyout with many commands, most notable the forward and backward repeat commands.  Now I am seeing nothing when I right-click -- and this happens when I have clicked any of the tools in the Main Tool Palette.

I think I must have damaged this right-click functionality somewhere along the way -- but I can't think of how I broke it.  In Google searches, I'm not seeing any results about how to fix the right-click functionality in Finale 2012.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

P.S:  I'm still using Finale 2012.  It meets my needs, so not planning to upgrade anytime soon.

I no longer use F 2012 (or F 2012.5) but the right-click works in F 27.

 

What computer operating system are you using, and when did you last update it? That might have had an effect.

Thanks so much for your reply. For the past 7+years I have used an HP desktop that I bought brand new, running Windows7 Pro.

 

Then I bought a brand new HP desktop in August 2022 and have been using it ever since. It has Windows 11 OS.

 

I shutdown the old box and then installed all apps including Finale 2012 from the original dvd that I purchased many years ago.

 

I composed 2 new songs in December, and I don't recall having this right-click behavior during song #1. I did run across an issue copying a scored melody from a midi-import, and then pasting it into the lead sheet that I was building. I had to fiddle with a setting so that copy-and-paste wouldn't bring the key signature over.

 

I seem to recall this right-click issue started sometime after that.

 

Unusual problem

 

As you know, with Finale there are 16 ways to do any task, so I do have some workarounds. But it would be nice to get the right-click behavior back again.

If it worked before and doesn't work now, step 1 is to shut down the computer and restart it. If that doesn’t help, refresh the preferences.

 

You might also try another mouse.
