Hello Everyone,

I'm not sure the best way to describe what I mean, so I took a screenshot of the problem: http://i.imgur.com/QTQC6oK.png

I don't have any idea if I'm doing anything that somehow triggers this. The "expansion" always begins near the end of the chart, and not on whatever page I'm working on.

I had this issue frequently on Finale 2012. The only way I could figure to solve the problem was to copy the entire composition and paste in into a new file - obviously not ideal. I was really hoping the problem would go away when I upgraded to Finale 25 a month ago, so I really don't have any idea why this is happening.

Has anyone else experienced this before? I'd be very grateful if anyone has advice on how to fix this or better yet, avoid it entirely!

Thanks in advance.

You need to resize those pages to the same parameters as the earlier ones.

I was able to resize the systems using the page layout tool, but I'm still at a loss why they changed in the first place. It was just the last two pages of the chart, and they've been perfectly normal up until today, when I discovered the systems had expanded for no apparent reason.

Hi Joey,

Here's a hypothetical situation that's pretty common in my experience:

If you add measure stacks or use Fit Measures, this usually results in more pages being added to the document. The formatting measurements for these new pages are taken from a dialog box under Document > Page Format > Score.

If these measurements don't match the measurements of the existing pages, we see the problem that appears in your screenshot.

Mike is absolutely correct that you should use the parameters of the earlier pages to resize systems/pages/margins as needed.

To prevent this file from having the same problem down the road, make sure Page Layout menu > Update Page Format For Score is checked. You can use this same strategy in any templates you use regularly.

Hi Chad, I add measure stacks and "Fit Measures" a lot so I bet you have the source of my problem figured out. I will look into your solution - thank you very much!
