Hello i just recently upgraded from finale 2012 to finale 25.

The problem is that i also changed computer.

During the migration something went wrong and all my ensemble templates are not available in new finale.

Fortunately i still have my old computer with old finale, i just can't find where my templates are stored so i can transfer them in my new computer.

Could anyone tell me where can i find those templates in finale 2012 and how to transfer them in the new finale?

 Thanks so much to everyone!

I use el capitan on a macbook pro

Maybe templates is not the right word, because i found the template folder but the ensemble i created were not there.

In the set up wizard, you have the possibility to save custom ensembles, where can i find the files of the ensemble i created through the years?

thank you

Perhaps you are looking in the wrong folders.

There are two identical named Finale folder hierarchies.

One resides in the Library folder in your Mac OS X user account.

This (user account) Library folder may be hidden, but you can get to the hidden Library folder via the Finder’s Go menu: Hold down the Option key.

Path:

(user account)/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/…

This is where your templates are stored.

Note that each Finale version has its own (sub-)folder hierarchy.

The main folder for Finale 2012 is called “Finale 2012”.

The main folder for Finale 25 is called “Finale”.

Another folder hierarchy resides in the Library folder at the root level.

Path:

Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/…

This folder hierarchy serves as a “backup of the default folders” for the Finale program.

If - in your user account - one of the Finale folders (e. g. the Templates folder) is missing, Finale will restore the missing folder with a copy of the “default backup” folder.

Obviously this backup copy only contains the default Finale templates, not your own, custom templates.

Just to keep everything together for future reference, custom ensembles in Windows 7 are in

%AppData% \MakeMusic\Finale\Configuration Files

Just to jump in here with some additional info, those custom ensemble files are stored separately per each version of Finale. But you can share that file if you would like.

You can move the "ensembles.txt" file from...

~/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale/Configuration Files

...to your desktop (I would save this file), and then copy the "ensembles.txt" file from...

~/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale 2012/Configuration Files

..to the Finale v25 version of that folder...

~/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale/Configuration Files.

Once you launch the program after that the Setup Wizard will have those old custom ensembles.

Here is an easy way to use Finder to get to directories:

1. Close any open programs.

2. Click the Finder icon on your applications' dock.

3. Choose (from the Finder program toolbar) Go Go To Folder.

4. Type in the directory and click Go to open that folder (make sure to get the leading tilde "~" marking in the directory as needed otherwise you will land in the wrong folder.

Hope this helps!
