I have just downloaded NotePad, and in the process of trying to register it, the system asks for a number. I cannot find any number, perhaps because NotePad is a free download? Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Hi Joanna,

Thanks for posting!

NotePad will ask for a registration number when launching for the first time. You can generate a registration number by clicking the Register Now button in the registration prompt that appears on first launch. You can then enter that number back into the registration wizard.

Hope this helps!

I am trying to register NotePad 2012. I have followed the steps for this process as posted under support. When I get to the  "Register your serial number to authorize "page it requires a serial number which I do not have. How do I proceed?

By following Lawson's instructions in the previous post.

Lawton's advice was a year ago. Does it still work for you, Mike?

Notepad works on the Mac in High Sierra if previously installed (as does 2014.5 and PM 2014.5 with the same limitations as Sierra). Like all versions of Finale before 25.4.1, it will not install over OS 10.13.

Since NotePad is discontinued for the Mac, it is no longer available for download. Legacy users such as myself have a serial number in our MM Users account. When I installed it on my OS 10.11 test drive, I was able to authorize my copy.

My daughter is coming over today. If she brings her laptop and it's not running High Sierra, I can see if NotePad for Mac can still be activated (with her cooperation, of course—I already have a license). If she has updated the OS like all the other Macs around here, I won't be able to see. She has 25 but I've never seen her on these boards.

I already had NP 2012 installed, when I upgraded to Mojave. I just checked it, and it still runs! I did have to install Java 6.

I wonder how long it will be before NP becomes the abbreviation for NotePerformer rather than NotePad? :-)
