We need more info from you.

1) Is your layout a 1-staff layout (e. g. flute)?

- or a 2-staff layout (e. g. piano)?

- or a multi-staff layout (e. g. organ)?

2) In what tool are you when you “select all and drag a staff handle”?

- perhaps the Staff Tool?

- or?

I'm having this same super annoying problem that has only occurred now that I've upgraded to 25.

This happens when I extract parts from ANY score and work on ANY of the parts....doesn't matter if it's a flute, piano etc...

In a 1-staff part (like e. g. a flute part) using the Staff Tool to respace staves does not make sense.

Instead, use the Page Layout Tool to respace systems.

In “Finale-speak” a system is one line of measures in Page View.

A staff, On The Other Hand, goes through all the measures of the entire document.

If you switch to Scroll View, you will see only staves (in Scroll View there are no systems).

Exactly what problem are you having? Can you show us an image of one page that illustrates the problem?

When I select all staves on a page and move them down to make more space, it will eventually push one or more staves off that page into the next page BUT the one that gets pushed to the next page just disappears.

Refresh the screen or save and close the program and then re-open it. Likely the screen just needs to redraw.

J Adrian  - Redraw doesn't do anything. I can't close and open Finale everytime I want to re-space a page (doing orchestral scores with dozens of instruments)

Peter  - I looked up usage of the Page Layout tool - It's NOT what I'm looking for. It's great for setting parameters and all that but I need to be able to GRAB and DRAG systems - I've seen many tutorials online that explain the staff tool as the way to do this in parts. Curious why you think it's not to be used for this purpose?

All in all, it really sucks that the staff tool did work for me in this way for 10 years and now it doesn't. Whoo hoo!

Not sure what you are experiencing, but it works for me in v25.

Then try shifting to Scroll View and back to Page View. I seldom see this problem to begin with, but Redrawing, Switching to Scroll View and back, Saving/Closing/Reopening the file, or restarting Finale are the things I try on the few occasions when the screen has difficulty redrawing to show an added page.

Thanks - Switching between Part and Score view did the trick. Annoying but better than...well, anything else so far.

Just upgraded to v 26.2, same issue as Adam describes. I have a 4-staff (part) score with 3 staves hidden. I select one hidden staff, uncheck "force unhide" and I get this.  Like it pushes it way, way off the page, can't scroll down to it.   Fiddled with Page Layout to see if I can bring it back, to no avail. The unhiding of staves issue is why I ponied up for an upgrade, and it seems worse in this version. Hoping to resolve this.   This is on Windows 10 with all current OS updates applied.

That looks like some sort of file corruption.

However, you may be able to fix this issue.

What I would try:

Staff Tool.

Scroll View

Staff menu > Staff Usage…

In the dialog box Staff Usage you can go through the pop up menu, to set the vertical position of each staff.

When you have fixed the Scroll View, switch to Page View, and use

Staff menu > Respace Staves…

Click the option {Set to Scroll View Spacing}.
