mac os 10.12

I am inputing a song that starts with a pick up measure. I have a second verse that needs the pick up that is different from the first one. I have not been able to get that one set up. Any suggestions?

That's where you put the second pickup in a first ending of a repeat that repeats back to the measure after the first pickup.

What, exactly, is the layout problem here?

 

Are the first Verse and the second Verse using the same measures, via a repeat sign?

In that case the “standard” layout solution is that you put a Forward Repeat Bar after the 1st pickup, and create a 1st and 2nd ending where the 1st ending ends with the 2nd pickup.
