My computer: Windows 10 64-bit

Finale Print Music 2014b.

Last week I created a score in Finale Print Music 2014b and the chords and expression marking worked perfectly.

This week all chord definitions and expressions have disappeared.

If I type in Ebmin7, I get the message: "could not find the chord suffiix "min7". Would you like To select another suffix?

I click YES.

The chord suffix window opens and it is empty. There are zero chord suffixes.

Finale only allows me to choose "cancel" as the "select"button is grayed out.

Then my Ebmin7 chord is forcibly returned to a plain Eb chord.

The same thing happens with expressions now. The window is empty!

How can I get them back?

Items like chord suffixes and expressions are document specific, not program specific.

In the “full Finale” you can load so called “libraries” with chord suffixes and expressions into a document.

I could be wrong here, but I do not think that PrintMusic can load libraries.

With PrintMusic, begin your new document from a template that has chord suffixes and expressions.

I usually import midi files into Finale. Is it possible to use a template when I do that?

Thomas Lichtenstein,

You wrote:

I am not sure what PrintMusic does, when it imports a MIDI file.

Perhaps PrintMusic by default imports MIDI into an empty “Document Without Libraries”. (?)

Anyway, when you have imported the MIDI into a PrintMusic document, then you can copy/paste the music into another document.

If this “other document” contains chord suffixes and expressions, then you can add chords and suffixes.

So I can open 2 documents at the same time in Print Music? I've never tried that.

I couldn't open 2 songs at a time (or I couldn't figure out how to view more than one at a time), but I still was able to copy my piece onto a library formatted score. It was a little bit of a hassle but didn't take too long. Thanks! I have my chords and expressions back.
