Okay...this is really weird. I've been using the EastWest Play sampler in Finale for over a year with no problem. Yesterday, I installed a new sampler program (UVI), and now I suddenly can't get Finale to recognize the Play sampler...

Is there a maximum number of AU samplers that Finale can have loaded at a time (I currently have 8 samplers showing as available, not including the Smart Music Synth and Garritan Instruments for Finale)?  I haven't been able to find anything stating there's a minimum, but that's the only reason why I can think Play would have suddenly stopped being recognized after installing the UVI sampler...

I can't see anyway within Finale of telling it to "forget" a certain sampler, because I definitely would prefer to have Play over the UVI sampler. Help!!!

So... you installed a new VI and now the problem is Finale? I assume that you are on a Mac.

A few possibilities. The most likely is that the new installation corrupted paths. Try a Safe Boot. This will repair any paths that the OS can detect as broken. Shut down, hold the Shift key and start your Mac. When you get to your user screen, log in and wait while your desktop icons Rebuild. Shut down and Boot normally.

Try reinstalling EW—if that doesn't work, reinstall Finale.

You may have to delete preferences but I rarely see a problem go this far.

Do not use one of those repair utilities like Mac Cleaner, a truly terrible product. It will often erase the paths that apps and plugins need to work together.

Considering the facts that A) both VI's (UVI and EW Play) work perfectly fine together in every other DAW I use, and B) EW Play was working perfectly fine in Finale until I installed UVI, I don't think it's that much of a stretch for me to draw the conclusion that the problem was in Finale.

I tried all three of your suggestions (safe mode, reinstalled Play, and reinstalled Finale), but alas none of those have yet made a difference.

OS X 10.11.6, Finale v 25

Both UVI and EW Play are set at 44.1 kHz

And.....it gets weirder.

So, seeing as my UVI library is relatively unimportant to me and my EW libraries are far more critical, I decided to see if uninstalling the UVI Workstation - at least temporarily - would kick EW Play back into Finale. However, even though I've completely removed UVI Workstation and the Application Support folders from my computer, Finale still recognizes UVI as a valid AU instrument (and still does not recognize EW Play).

Naturally, I've sent an e-mail to UVI support for help, but since you mentioned that you use UVI libraries as well, wondered if you might know of some secret to uninstalling UVI Workstation that I'm not aware of...

Delete your Finale preferences. If that doesn't do it, submit a tech support request to MM at the top of the page.
