Hello everybody

i cannot figure out how to mute the following 2 situations:

1- I am writing for big ensemble: few measures before the entrance of an instrument, i would like to write the main melody happening in other parts (as a guide line). How do i mute those few measures?

2- In another instrument i need to enter rhythmic notation as in the example. To do so i need to enter notes, and go to staff tools and choose rhythmic notation

How do i mute those notes? for the playback?

I am sure there is a way to do it but so far i could not figure it out

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1 - Put these notes in a layer where the layer options have playback turned off. If you're not using layer 3 and 4, you can use these layers for that purpose, one for upstems and the other downstems.

2 - See 1

Thanks guys

question:

if i am not using a layer at the moment but i will use later in the piece, is it possible to enable / disable layer playback for only some bars?

thanks

I'm surprised you need to use all four layers on one staff, but you may well have to. If so, you can effectively mute a layer for a section using the same technique one would use to play a passage in one pass through a repeat and not on others. Basically you would use an expression (visible or hidden) to change the MIDI/Aria channel of a layer to an empty slow in the Aria player. Another expression would change it back.
