One bar repeat

I switched to Mac and am now finding it very difficult to use Finale Songwriter 2012. The most current issue, among many, is the one bar repeat.

After selecting my measure:

Went to Staff tool

opened up Staff Attributes

chose alternate notation and then 1bar repeat.

ok and ok

and VOILA! The entire score changed to the 1 bar repeat symbol. WHAT THE...? Is this a bug in the software!?

I don't know exactly how Songwriter works, but in Finale it's-

Staff Tool > Select Measures to show the 1 bar repeat > Staff Menu > Apply Staff Style, select 1 bar repeat from list

There are Staff Attributes, and there are staff styles.

Staff Attributes are “global” = for all the measures in the entire document.

On The Other Hand, a staff style can be applied “locally” = to a selected region only.

However, I am not sure whether SongWriter can apply a staff style.

You may have to upgrade to PrintMusic.

Ok, sounds like I need to upgrade. Sigh......I just hope I'm not paying for the same problem in an upgrade.

Staff Styles works fine all versions of Finale I've had, now F25.
