Have you checked "Use MIDI device for input" in the Speedy Menu?

Hello Bryan,

In order to find a solution for this, some more information will be needed to find out what exactly you are experiencing. Are you only getting rests on input or are you not getting any input at all?

Since you are using a Mac, it is best to first make sure that the Audio MIDI Utility is recognizing your keyboard.

1. Close any open programs (including Finale).
2. Click the Finder icon.
3. Choose (from the Finder program toolbar) Go > Utilities.
4. Open Audio MIDI Setup.
5. If you do not see the MIDI Studio window right away click Window > Show MIDI Studio.
6. Click the Test Setup button so it turns blue.
7. Play some notes on your MIDI keyboard (make sure your computer volume is up). Do you hear a monotone blip sound coming from the computer?

I have the same keyboard as Brian but a PC computer. In Finale, in midi setup, it does not recognize the Yamaha keyboard.

A further comment about the above midi connection. I have a 3 meter USB cable and my problem is what settings to enter on both the keyboard and the Finale program.

Bryan and Thomas,

Sorry for the delayed response on this, my apologies.

If you have followed the steps above and the computer is recognizing the MIDI keyboard that is good news. At this point we can move forward with troubleshooting the issue in Finale. First, go to MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > MIDI Setup. Make sure that the MIDI System is set to CoreMIIDI and that your device is listed as the input. If this is setup correctly here and you are still not getting input, post reply here and let me know. It will best to open up a case for this then and troubleshoot the issue individually as there may be different solutions for each of you.

I have Windows 10.I do not think the computer is recognizing the keyboard. I can not find the finder icon or the finder program toolbar. I don't see how to set Midi system to coreMidi.
