Mac OS X.10.5, FINALE 25

How can I reset or delete all midi tempo changes that have been made in earlier versions of FINALE? I tried using Clear Selected Items in the EDIT menu and clicking on midi tempo changes, but it doesn't solve the problem. Removing human playback may solve this sometimes but it is not acceptable when a swing feel is needed, for ex.

John Watts,

We need more info from you:

Describe what you want to achieve; what you do when you try to achieve it; what happens; and what doesn't happen that you expected.

Human Playback (= HP) creates its playback effects “on the fly” - without writing/saving to the document’s MIDI data.

This means that the HP playback effects are not saved in the document - HP must recreate the playback effects every time you click the Playback button.

However, you can have the Human Playback effects saved in the document’s MIDI data:

MIDI Tool menu > Apply Human Playback…

When the playback effects are saved to the document’s MIDI data, they will play even if Human Playback is off.

What is it that you need to delete?

- the tempo changes saved in the document?

- the tempo changes HP creates “on the fly”?

I would like Finale 25 to play only tempos which are indicated on the page with the measure expression tool (quarter note equals etc.). When I import a Finale document from Ver 14.5, there are many "hidden" tempo changes that were made, for example, with the no longer available metronome tool.

Also, I would like to know if it's possible to have a swing-feel on playback without any other "human" adjustments like ritards and holds, for ex.

Thanks!

1) You can delete the tempo changes saved in the document’s MIDI data, via

Clear Selected Items…

2) You can customize playback so that the swing-feel is the only playback effect.

In the Default Document there is even a ready made expression for swing-feel playback.

If you use that Swing expression, you can toggle Human Playback off.
