I fixed this a couple months ago and can't remember how to do it again. I thought I found the answer in the help center. In my score, Finale goes from page to studio view after the first couple pages of score. I've checked the the various posts and can't seem to locate the fix. I thought it was under documents, but I don't find anything that sounds familiar.

Are you sure that it changes to Studio View?

It is much more likely that

• everything you see, is in Page View, and that the page layout changes after the first couple pages.

Test:

What happens if you go back to the first page? - stays in “studio view”, or goes back to “page view”?

If it “goes back to page view”, then • is the case (probably).

Explanation:

Finale automatically creates new pages as needed.

The page format for new pages is document specific:

Document menu > Page Format > Score…

If you take a look at the settings in {Page Format for Score}, then you will (probably) see that the settings match what you see in the score after the first couple pages.

Fix:

Correct the settings in {Page Format for Score} so that they are as you want them.

From now on, all new pages will be formatted as you want them formatted.

To update already existing pages, use the Page Layout Tool to Redefine Pages:

Page Layout menu > Redefine Pages > …

I think my Finale version is melting down!  :  (  Yesterday, I was working on a score and the main tool menu with all the major commands (measure, key sig., time sig, articulations, dynamics etc.) disappeared. I went under View to bring it back, but to no avail. I've also lost the grace note, tuplet & tie commands from the note/rest tool pallete. How do I get these back?

First thing to try is restarting the computer. If that doesn't help, trash the preferences.

Please tell us what version of Finale, and what operating system.

Hi Mike,

Hi Mike,

I guess my reply email did not get to you since I've had no response. I restarted my computer twice and am still missing the main menu items in addition to the grace note, tuplet & tie commands from the note pallete. You mentioned trashing the preferences, but the only command I see is reset all preferences in the Finale window under View Preferences. Is that what you mean about trashing all preferences?

My version of Finale is 25..0.0.7722. My Mac Operating system is Mac OS Sierra 10.12.5

Yes, that's the quick and easy way that was just introduced in v. 25.

You might also want to upgrade to the newest, version 25.4.1.
