What is in the dmg file? If it is the Finale 2014 installer and you have moved to the latest version then I would say yes, trash it.

Thanks for your note.  The file is named  Finale2014dMacFull.dmg and is is 1.83GB in size

I also have another one  Finale2012bMacUpdatee.dmg   157.7mb.  I suspect that could definitely go as it is old.

Thanks.

The .dmg files contain the installers for those versions. If they both use the same serial number and you ever need them again, you won't be able to download either from your user account. The 2014 download will be 2014.5. If you've upgraded to 25, even that won't be there, only the latest version of 25.

I have archived my old installers to a DVD+R in case I ever need them again. Unlikely? Yes but one never knows.

Thanks.  I'll think I'll just put them on an external hard drive if that is OK.  Or would the DVD+R work any better?  They do take up a lot of space on one's hard drive and it would be helpful to put them somewhere safe.

Dealer choice where — or if — you want to store them. I do recommend zipping the files first if storing on a remote drive.
