When I am entering the figured bass below the stave, it automatically unchecks the "finale numerics" which is what you are suppose to use when doing this task. I took my computer into Geek squad at Best Buy just to make sure there were not any other issues, and that's when we noticed that the computer unchecks Finale numerics when you press the space bar to move to the next note. I have had my iMac upgraded to the Yosemite operating system and all other functions on Finale seem to work fine. My iMac was purchased in 2011.

I am completely stumped !

… unchecks Finale numerics when you press the space bar to move to the next note …

We need more info.

1) I suppose that you are using the Lyrics Tool (not the Chord Tool) to enter the figured bass, right?

2) When it unchecks Finale Numerics, then does it check another font?

I mean, when you continue, do you get another font, or do you not get any font at all?

3) Take a look in

Document menu > Document Options > Fonts > Lyrics

Is the Finale Numerics font selected for Lyrics?

Hi Peter !

If I remember correctly the font went back to it's default setting, I just can't remember what that is, I will look into it, and yes I made sure I was using the lyric tool to enter the figured bass. Is there any way I can post my document, so you can see the funky lettering that is taking shape next to the roman numeral.

Thank You.

Hi John,

Thanks for posting.

What about 3) ?

Did you take a look in the Document Options?

It may not be necessary that you post your document here.

But if it seems necessary that you post your document, then … :

- You can not attach a Finale document in this forum (only graphics).

- You can upload your Finale document elsewhere, and add a hyperlink to the document here.

- You can e. g. attach your Finale document in this other Finale forum (which is neither run nor monitored by MakeMusic):

Hi Peter !

Sorry about the long delay I have been working extra hours. When I go to Document options as far as I can see Finale Numerics is selected in the font menu,  but after I go to that menu it says "to change default font go to document menu and  select "Set default music font" should I change this ?

No, the message is not telling you to change the default music font.

The message is merely there For Your Information - just in case you actually wanted to change the default music font.

Some users might think that {Document Options - Fonts} is the place where you can change the default music font.

As the message says, if you want to change the default music font, you should not go to {Document Options - Fonts}, but rather go to the Document menu.

Hi Peter

I realize its been almost a month since I have posted anything, but i just wanted to clarify that after it kicks me off of the Finale Numerics font it goes back to the Times New Roman font. I don't know if this is what the default font is or not.

Do you have real lyrics in this piece, as well?

If so, are you putting your figured base in another verse?

1) You can set a default font for lyrics (and see what font is currently the default font), in

Document menu > Document Options > Fonts > Lyrics

You can set a default font for Verse, Chorus, and Section.

2) To set (and see) the font for the current lyric, look in the Lyrics window.

If the Finale Numerics font is selected in both 1) and 2), then Finale should not switch to any other font.
