Hi folks. I have tried scanning in a piece of music I wrote using Finale 2012 on on old computer. (I also tested SmartScore and while it did a better job, it missed a lot of notes too... ) Anyway, I'm using the latest version of Finale on my desktop. I find that the scan produced a lot o 1/16 notes and filled measures with incomplete durations (lacking a 1/4 note e.g.). The problem I'm running into in trying to edit the piece is that I almost have to erase the measure and then enter it all again by hand. Deleting a note and trying to correct it, like turning it into an 1/8th from a 1/16th, means I have to remove more than I need to to start re-entering. Plus, if the score put in too much duration, like a 1/4 instead of an 1/8th, it forced part of the measure into the next.
I am wondering if there is a best practice and a visual tutorial for how to do that efficiently. I tried copying and pasting but you can't always select the appropriate number of incorrect durations to either drag copy or paste. And rebarring only works if you have corrected the existing measures, but doesn't help with the following ones...
Just a little frustrated with the quality of the scan. I don't want to pay $400 just to scan in about 5 pieces Really sorry they took that capability out of Finale.
