Hi.

I'm helping a composer with a large Opera score and I want to delete the first twenty systems and keep the remaining 90 systems.

So when I do this page 20 turns into page 1, system 21 becomes system 1 and then all my resize tool settings + margin settings is gone.

The layout is lost - or at least not in it's right place...

Is there any way to avoid this?

Thank you!

What tool did you use to “delete the first twenty systems” ?

Did you try the Page Layout Tool?

(Page Layout menu > Delete Staff Systems)

Yes, I have tried the Delete Staff option and various plug-ins, but FINALE cannot understand (or I don't know how to command it..) that something that belonged to page 11 - for instance -, now should belong to page 1 after deleting systems.
I still hope I'm wrong?
Thank you.

I suppose you are talking about a text block (created with the Text Tool), right?

No, Finale can not understand it if it is a page attached text block. (But you can change the page assignment after the fact - in the dialog box Frame Attributes)

If - On The Other Hand - the text block is measure/staff attached, then it will move with the music.

Again, measure/staff attachment is set in the Frame Attributes.

Hi, it's not the text blocks, but it's the resize tool settings that gets lost and then the layout goes banana...

All pages in the score has all been resized differently; page 1, 75%, page 2, 60% and so on.

So my old page 10 is resized to 97% and becomes page 1 after deleting systems; but the 97% resized page is still page 10 and should now be page 1.

That's my problem.

Thank you for trying!

In that case I do not know of a solution (in Finale), other than manually setting the Page Scaling, page by page.

Try asking the folks in Tech Support - could not hurt.

If this is just a layout issue, I would

- adjust the page number offset,

- adjust the measure numbers,

- export the score as a PDF file,

- remove the first pages from the PDF file.
