Does anyone have a "best practice" suggestion for transcribing music for a guitar, when the guitar is tuned down a half-step (as is often the case in rock & blues)?
For example, instead of playing an E (top space of the staff) as it is played on the guitar (open 1st string or 5th fret second string), you are actually playing an Eb (or F#) since the guitar is tuned down a half step so the singer can hit the notes. Would it be better to write it for standard tuning since that is the way it is actually played on the guitar and make a tuning note on the manuscript, or change the key signature and transpose the entire piece down a half-step.
Thanks for any help with this.
