I have the same problem a few other users have complained about when after working in Finale 25 for a long period of time the .musx file goes missing and I cannot do a save anymore. I am using the latest version of Finale 25 on a Windows 10 PC. This problem usually occurs when I leave Finale open to any piece I'm working on for an extended amount of time with no activity. Fortunately, I have learned to make sure I have auto-save set and the Make backup when saving" turned on. But here's the problem. I notice that even though I say do auto-save every 10 minutes Finale only does an auto-save if I have updated anything in the file. If I walk away and leave Finale open I would expect that based on the terminology of auto-save Finale should still continue to issue the auto-save command until I finally issue a save request and exit. But it doesn't. For example, I was working on a piece today and the timestamp on the auto-save file was 12/31/2017 at 2:10 PM. I left Finale up and running and did not come back to work on it until 01/01/2018 at 1:15 AM. By that time I would have expected auto-save to continue issuing the auto-save commands all afternoon and evening but that is not the case. But also, the .musx file was now missing and I could not save the file. I know I issued a Ctrl-S command to save my work before walking away from my work at 2:10 PM because I have had this problem before. The question is when did the musx file disappear? And why did the auto-save stop saving? Does it only work if I have made changes to the file of did it stop because I lost the .musx file?
Oh yes...happy new year
