I'm experiencing a volume level problem in one of my staves on playback of a 1st ending repeat. The repeat function works and the accompaniment staves play as desired on the repeat, but on a vocal track, the volume of the sample suddenly drops to almost inaudible for 7 bars. Then the correct volume level "kicks in" in bar 8. There are no dynamic markings, nor smart dynamic shapes in the score in that passage.

I've found a work-around. The 1st ending bar is empty (intentionally) of note data.  I discovered that if I place note data into that bar, the level of the repeat works as expected.  The work-around: place a note so out of range into the 1st ending bar, it isn't heard on playback.

But the question remains: why does an empty 1st ending repeat bar cause the playback dynamic of that staff to drop precipitously for 7 bars of the repeat? And is there some other way to approach fixing this.

Will a hidden rest accomplish the same playback correction? Or, you could enter a note, and hide and mute it with JW Change.

Rests don't work. Neither does hiding.  (I use key "o" for hiding).

I have the same issue except one voice remains in first ending to provide an intro at the repeat.  I can almost hear it.  This time it resumes after the repeat .It is the last problem. I have in this piece.  My usual run MIDI strategy then switch to VSN didn't work.

Are you using Windows Finale?

Using Windows 10, finale 27.

I'm not so great with computers.  Been using finale for 2 years seriously.  69 years old.  

I appreciate so much how helpful everyone has been.  I have written almost 30 songs and arrangements in this time.

That I can do it at all is a miracle.

Try clearing the MIDI data: select all > Delete Selected Items > in the next screen, click None, and then click MIDI Data, and OK.

 

If that doesn’t help, export the score as XML, and import it back into Finale.

 

Both methods often clear up internal corruption, but the first is less likely to mess up formatting.
