Making the playback swing eighth notes in some regions, play straight eighths in others:

How would I make this happen?

Apply the swing expression where you want it. Create a No Swing expression to turn it off.

i've found it necessary to modify the tempo expression category to apply the swing to all staves.

For Finale:

1. Why is this necessary? Shouldn't the swing be applied to all staves by default?

2. Why is there not a No Swing expression?

I started with midi/audio>human playback>jazz from measure 1-52.  At measure 53 to the end I want to switch to straight (standard) eighth notes. Please help. ChuckD

How do you create a "no swing" expression?

Go to the Expression tool panel, and choose Tempo Marks. Click Create New Expression (or something like that.) in the text screen, type in “straight eighths,” or what ever you want. Then tap the playback tab on that window. In that window in Effect, choose Swing, and set it to zero.

Charles,

I suggest you edit and remove your e-mail address to avoid attracting spammers who troll sites with their bots.
