Suddenly, my playback is transposing pitches as it plays back.  For instance, if I write on a stave or line a phrase in C, it will sound in C while entering, then suddenly and without being told to change, it shifts to another key.  If I then enter a line on another stave, it too will shift, even as I write, but not to the same interval of transposition as the first line did.  All keys signatures are correct.  All notes entered read correctly, but the playback is cacophony.  This just started.  I checked the keyboard I am using to see if the modulation wheel had been activated; it has not.  I looked to see if this could be corrected by attaching a different keyboard to the computer.  That made no difference.

I am using a Dell  ACPIx64 computer running Windows 7 (It's what I've been given at work)

My music input keyboard is an M-Audio Keystation 61.

The version of Finale I am running is  Make Music Product Version 25.0.0.5868

Are you dealing with transposing instruments?

Have you checked to see that Documents Menu > Display in concert pitch has been checked?

In this particular document, is Human Playback on or off?

Are there any glissandi in this particular document?

Peter, Human playback is off.  There IS a glissando in the piano part, but I opened a new document and placed a concert C on each staff of a string quartet and there were pitch variations on each staff up to a half step up or down.

J Adrian, this happened in one document with just two vocal lines (no lyrics assigned) and between the accompaniment and the vocal line - both in C.

I am sorry, but I have no idea what is going on.

Perhaps it is time to contact the folks in Tech Support, and send them a Finale document with the problem.

I have done just that.  Of course this computer is in a church.  It could be the devil.  <GRIN> I think I have a file of some sort that is corrupting.

Gremlins, definitely Gremlins!

(If you are working with Customer Support, that should lead to a solution.)

Same. Stop playback, reload instruments - then starts at correct pitch again.

To fix the pitch issue in Finale, Unplug the Midi Controller, Reassign playback sounds. This solution worked for me.

Unfortunately everytime I want to play back I have to unplug the controller.
