I installed Finale update 25.4.0.144 today. Now Finale crashes when trying to open an xml file. Is there a way to re-install this update? When I try to re-install version 25.4 I can only choose a complete de-install. Help appreciated, thanks!

You are talking about an installation problem, but you haven't told us what computer Operating System you are using (as the General Discussion House Rules ask--for good reason).

@Adrian and Mike: I installed a (licensed) German version of Finale 25, overwritten by an English demo version (which I prefer) on my desktop pc (Windows10 Home, Dual core 2,8GHz, 64-bit, 4GB RAM). Since I had to finish some urgent work I saw no other solution then to de- and re-install Finale. I can now work again with the original German version (v.25.4) but for some reason it is no longer possible to overwrite this version with an English version. Is there a way to do that? I have the feeling that the update crash (v.25.4.0.144) had something to do with the language issue.

Rename the installed version. The next install will not overwrite. Both will work.

 

I always rename the old version when I install an update. Once I am satisfied there are no problems, I delete the older version.

Thanks Mike. I dit that the first time but the renaming trick didn't work with the last update. To cut a long story short: I experimented a bit with installing and now Finale seems to work (I hope, didn't have time to test fully) in English, even with the latest 25.4.0.144 update!
