I have 8 pages of a hymn arrangement that I would like transposed to a lower key. Is there a way to import, without having to do so by hand, into Finale and then transpose?
I am using v25 in Windows 7.
Thank you
If these pages are printed or in pdf etc., you will need a conversion utility to import the scans.
SmartScore X2 Pro is $199 for Finale users through the MakeMusic Score and is full featured. Look under Recommended Products.

Musitek's Music-to-XML costs half that but you are unable to edit before you import to Finale, a decided disadvantage for many of us.

If you have an older version of Finale or PrintMusic installed, you can still use SmartScore Lite to import to that version, then export as Music XML. This will not import lyrics nor most markings. Neither is it as accurate as either of the above.
>I found the older version with SmartScore Lite frustrating to use because it was so inaccurate<
You are not alone. I found it useless though many others do not think as poorly of it as I do.
>Before I spend the $199, is the SMartScore X2 Pro easier to use and more accurate?<
Easier, yes, because it is more accurate and you can export as MusicXML. It also handles most lyrics and expressions. Easier doesn't mean no work at all but I find it a time saver.
Musitek maintains a Facebook page—that's the best place I know to get help and answer any presales questions you might have.

I wouldn't say that the full program is easier to use. It's as complex as any other advanced program, and has a learning curve. However, the investment in both time and money is worth it, if you plan on doing a lot of scanning.

Thanks, Mike — I didn't know that.

I agree and tried to qualify my answer in that regards. I found SS Lite a waste of time and don't think the same about SS X2 Pro.

Hmmm... turns out that I joined in 2012. I found the following:
> ... You may ... test its recognition accuracy without risk or cost by downloading and installing our SmartScore X2 Pro demo from here:
http://www.musitek.com/demos.html
The results you see in the X2 Pro demo will be exactly the same when recognized by the M2XML gadget because Music-to-XML and SmartScore X2 Pro share the same recognition engine.
NOTE: The SmartScore X2 Pro demo does not save or print so you will not be able to test .XML output. If you require further testing, you may send us a PDF or TIF file you’re working with. As a courtesy, we will return to you the MusicXML output.<
