I am working on piece and when I change key signatures it Finale still displays naturals cancelling out a key signature, despite everything in the document options being checked to NOT show them.  I have included a screen shot of music where the "cancelling" signatures appear and of my dialog box to demonstrate that everything is unchecked.

When an instrument changes to C major, just how do you suggest the program show that if not with a cancelation? You will notice that when a Sax changes from D to G, there is no cancellation.

These are short pieces that will begin on new pages...I would suggest that a lack of flats and sharps expresses the Key of "C" without the addition of the naturals to "cancel" the previous.  I do not want a cancellation shown, which is what I checked...but it is still cancelling in the case of going into C.

I would agree with JAV. Finale isn't set up to do it, because it goes against normal notational practice. You may not want it, but that's the way it is.

And while a beginner might just accept it and go, I suspect that an experienced musician will think "what key am I in? I didn't see a cancellation, or any indication that this is a new piece..."

Maybe you could do it as a separate piece, and add it in with Score Merger.

On the parts it will be obvious they are different movements (and the score is clearly market with new sections beginning on new pages with new titles).  The movements are so short that creating scores just seemed more complex.

I guess Finale just isn't built to do this like I want...I will investigate Score Merger as an option.

If I understand you correctly, each movement ends a system, and the next movement begins a new system, both in the score and in the linked parts, right?

I guess that your screen shot confused us since it seems to show us a new movement beginning mid-system.

1) In the first measure of each movement you can force the measure to begin a new system.

This is done in the dialog box Measure Attributes.

2) In the last measure of the previous movement, use the Measure Attributes to “Hide Cautionary Clefs, Key and Time Signatures”.

If I misunderstand you, then I apologize.

Peter,

Thank you for pointing that out.
