I am trying to register my 2010 version on my XP machine. I  contacted customer support and they won't help me. The error message is 'unable to complete authorization over the internet'. no code has been sent to me email address and I have turned off the firewall. I am not in the states at the moment, and I cannot call customer service. I cannot afford an upgrade at the moment.

help.

Has it been registered? Is this the first time you are using it? Did you change computers? Does it show up in your Finale account?

Will it run in demo mode, without registration?

With more details, we may be able to make suggestions, but in the end, only customer service will have the final answer. Can you send them an email?

But keep in mind, they no longer support older versions, so you may be stuck.

Use your license that is displayed in your MM Users account. If you can log into your MakeMusic users account, you can manage your authorizations—click on the box to deauthorize computers you no no longer use.

If you cannot do that, you have an internet issue and Finale will not see the license server. I do not know what port(s) the MM license server uses but if it's not working you will get that error.

Firewalls, antivirus, VPN, occasional boot issues with XP and port blockers are the normal culprits. Every once in awhile, it could be your network switch, gateway modem or ISP

If nothing else works, try turning off your network interface and any switch for a minute, restart them and reboot your computer. I have to do these things every now and then—living smack dab in the middle of the Silicon Valley with very expensive internet, you'd think I'm immune to this nonsense but I'm not
