I am now experiencing a problem with articulation shortcut keys. Instead of applying the needed articulation, all keys w click only open up the articulation palette, with #1 (staccato) selected. This behavior is present in current working document as well as in new black documents.

What gives with this? Shortcuts are a real time saver. I need them back.

Thank you

My first guess is that the culprit is the {virtually stuck key} syndrome (which is a system issue, not isolated to Finale).

From your description it sounds like the letter S key is stuck.

Fix:

Log out of your Mac OS X user account, and log in again.

If that does help, try a reboot.

If a reboot does not help, consider the possibility that the letter S key is physically stuck.

It's not just the S key. Any key click combination opens the palette instead of applying the marking. But I'll try your suggestions to which I'll add unplugging the keyboard.

Ah, I found the problem. A stupid app from Avery Labels was open. They take over the system with their own text editor (something they call Command Bridge) designed for creating labels. It was screwing with normal keyboard operations on the Mac. Quitting Avery cleared it up.

Thank you for your help.

That's good to know. Something else to watch for...

Thanks for the update.
