Since the update to Finale25, the edit system margins box will not open. I have restarted the computer, deleted Finale preference file, reset all Finale preferences. This applies to the Page Margins box as well.
Forgive me if these are dumb questions, but
If number 3, try with Finale closed renaming the finale.ini file and moving it (temporarily) to the desktop. Then, when you restart Finale, it should recreate the finale.ini file, which might bring the Page Layout edit panels back into view.
Hi Jim,
It is most likely that the dialog box is opening off screen for you. J Adrian is on the right track in that resetting the preferences may bring this dialog box onto the visible screen. We have seen some cases though with Finale v25, with two monitors, that other steps may be required to reset the positioning of this box.
Assuming that the second monitor is using a hot plug-able connection, like HDMI or Thunderbolt, first, with Finale open disconnect the second monitor. This should move the Finale windows onto the main monitor. Now go to Edit > Preferences > Reset All Preferences. Restart Finale and reconnect the second monitor. Now test to see if you get the dialog box back on screen. If not, try moving the Finale main window to the second monitor and see if the dialog has appeared behind Finale.
The only solution that worked for me (Windows 10) was to open the registry with regedit and expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > MakeMusic > Finale26 > Finale > Dialog Location. The EditSysMargins data value was very high (something like 3000,2700), so I reset it to the same values as EditPageMargins (for me this was 270,1100). The dialog was visible again when I opened Finale.
I tried Steeve Chwojko's solution (bthough editing registry for Finale27), but it didn't work for me. I can edit the dialog location data values of both EditSysMargins and EditPageMargins. Changing that data value affects the location of EditPageMargins dialog box but doesn't affect EditSysMargins dialog box. I set the dialog location data value of EditSysMargins to match EditPageMargins, but still couldn't see the EditSysMargin dialog box. I also set both EditSysMargina dn EditPageMargins dialog location to 0,0, and found that EditPageMargins obediently goes to the center of the Finale window but EditSysMargins dialog box remains hidden. I did also try switching between extending desktops and displaying exclusively on one desktop, without success. I'd hate to clear all my preferences.. hoping there's another way?
