HP, Windows 7, F 25:

The first time I save a Finale file, I have know idea where it places it.  I have to look in all my desk top folders ( and there is a lot) to find it.  I set up a new folder, start  the new file there (eventually I will extract and store parts) and ALWAYS use "save as".  when I go back to it later, the file is the original, not the new one I saved after working on it.  What gives? or What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Rich Moon

Any time you do a "save as" you should be seeing a file/save dialogue asking for a file name and location. Make sure that the location is correct.

Edit | Preferences | Folders to determine where you want your files to be (or where they are going thus far).

Piggybacking on Mike R's comment: open the file again using the Recent Files list (at the bottom of the File Menu. Then, if you start a Save As... , you should be able to see the folder name where your file went. (You do not need to finish the Save As... once you have this info.)

Also check the folder in which you saved the last file you saved before this one.
