I am transcribing a video of a guitar piece (Pujol) that has two, four-bar sections that have a little percussion by striking the body of the guitar.  These are simple but very pleasant effects.  Is it necessary to create a separate layer? The entire composition is 90 measures so it seems a bit much to dedicate a layer to just 8 measures.  Anyway, any advice would be much appreciated.  Also, I apologize in advance if this is too amateurish.....

You can either use another layer, or an additional staff (hide the staff where you don't want it to show.)

Thanks, Mike.  I'll try the extra staff idea.  I was hoping for something very simple since it is only used for a few measures, but it is what it is....
