metatools not working correctly

Long-time Finale user, just switched from using Finale 25 on a Windows PC to Mac OS 10.10 I'm still using a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 (addicted to right click) and it works great for everything. But I suspect it could be causing one very annoying problem - I cant input artic, dynamics, etc with Metatools. I'm able to assign the metatools functions to specific keys, and I see the key assignments in the menus. Everything works until I try to input them on the score. When I hold the key down and click the mouse on the note to assign a dynamic/artic., the menu opens up just like it would if I hadn't press the key.

I'm not sure if it's the mouse, but I can't think of any other reason this would be happening, and I've looked for answers on message boards and found nothing to help. Any ideas?

1) Does it happen in all documents, or only in specific documents?

Try e. g. in a new, empty Default Document.

If it only happens in some documents, then the issue is document specific.

2) Does it happen for all metatools, in all tools?

Try e. g. in the Selection Tool the transposition metatools (= the keys 6, 7, 8, 9).

Happens in all documents, old or new.
Happens for all metatools I've tried--, dynamics, articulations, and keyboard shortcuts that use the mouse, like pressing "<" and drawing a cresc, don't work. I'll try those you mentioned next time I'm at the keyboard.

Does this mouse behave with other apps or is Finale the only problem?

I've had no other problems with ithe mouse in Finale or .other programs. And I just tried a different Microsoft mouse and it acts the same.

In the System Preferences, does it give you other choices besides the basics? Are there downloadable drivers?

I am guessing that, since there are downloadable drivers for Windows, that only the core functionality is supported on a Mac.

I've been to that link and others like it. I think you're probably right. I searched for drivers but only found them for windows, and apple web pages say the mouse is compatible, but no details on how compatible.

Im using a mac computer and when I hit the staccato, accent, etc. tool I lose the picture and it reverts back to my desktop
