Entering harmonic analysis

I'm entering harmonic analysis using the lyrics tool and can't figure out how to get the interval (arabic) numbers to be smaller and raised (the zero width numbers, as the manual calls them). For example V6 looks like that, and when I use SHIFT+6, as the manual says, it looks like this V^. I'm using version 25 on Mac Sierra. Thanks.

Which font?

Which build of 25?

Is 25 your first version on this Mac or did you upgrade?

Default font, 25.2.0.79, upgraded

I think you need to be using the Finale Numerics font, for that. Is that what you’re doing?

25.2 has the latest versions of the fonts (25.1 doesn't). The installer doesn't always replace older versions of fonts on a Mac. Although I know the workaround, that is probably not the issue.

With an upgrade, >Default font< doesn't tell us what you are using and no one has any way of knowing. My system defaults to Times New Roman 12, on a new document for example, as it has for 20+ years.

I could trash all Finale Preferences to find out what a fresh install defaults to (Finale Lyric?) but I have no interest in doing that.

I agree with MikeR that Finale Numerics is probably what you are looking for. Much easier than using Times New Roman where the superscript numerics are Glyphs 3383 – 3392. Finale Lyric only has 223 glyphs but should have everything you are looking for. Finale Lyric only has 292 glyphs but no superscript numbers.

On a Mac, when you are in Font Book.app, you click to the Character Map in the upper left corner on any font and can see all the glyphs.

Thank you, Mike and Mike. I've updated to 25.4 now, and made sure I'm using Finale Numerics, but I still don't know how to get the superscript numbers. Shift+6 still gives me ^. Nor can I figure out how to stack numbers in figured bass, though I am following the instructions under "harmonic analysis" in the manual. Your help is much appreciated!

Ok, I figured out the problem. For some reason, the text font kept reverting to Finale Lyrics. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem described above, except I am using WIN 10. I also took all the steps given and shift+ 6 gives ^ not a zero numeric. Can you assist me? Kenneth Wold

I somehow stumbled onto the fact that the zero numerics were in Layer 2. I don't know how that took place, but it solved my problem and I achieved my goal and completed the document. K Wold
