I'm not using Finale as input of notation, just documentation of what I made in daw.
- so midi input is not relevant
Would be great if Finale respected that.
Thank you but don't think related to audio part.
I have three class compliant midi interfaces, 12 ports.
They gave the weirdest result starting daw - not enough memory.
This means the midi ports were held exclusively by Finale.
I think it is really simple - if set to "none" - don't initiate any midi port at all.
On my old Finale Guitar 2003, I installed on a computer with no midi ports and no funny messages or anything.
Just treat "none" setting as there are no midi ports at all - problem solved.
Finale is grabbing all midi devices good it seems.
For midi there is no driver other than windows class compliant built in as of in my case.
All three were reporting not enough memory when Finale was active and starting daw.
- now I also clicked Advanced button and set all ins and outs to none.
- set also no midi thru, if that matters
- going through all these daw starts fine, Finale grabbed them all, not just the first top one it seems.
- but changing over to Finale again it said "Finale reported an error and will shutdown".
- so Finale crashed even, but think that was audio related
But setting audio to WASAPI only enabled, and DirectSound and ASIO disabled it seems to work.
- I also unchecked in windows "allow programs to take exclusive control"
- this setup seems to work and Finale is quiet starting up, no windows to click away
So consider it solved for now.
