Are you using Windows Finale v27 ?

Are the quarters disappearing in Layout or in Playback ? - or perhaps both ?

Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce the problem in my own copy of Mac Finale v27.

Can you provide exact steps to reproduce the problem ?

I am using Win10 and Finale version 27.3.0.137 (the latest).

Please find below a screen dump of a sheet music with 6 bars. These all had the same content before I inserted an acciaccatura in the first measure.

You can see that the first note thus disappeared (and the nodes in that measure were rearranged).

In your attached screen shot the time signature is 2/4.

I reproduced your 2/4 example.

For me, the inserted grace note did not make any notes disappear.

Yes. It's just another example. It makes no difference.

Both.

It's pretty simple:
I make the layout with the 6 equal measures.
Click on the "Simple Entry Tool" icon.
Click on a note (in this case 1/8; doesn't matter)
Click on the "Grace Note" icon.
Click on staff to insert grace note in front of the first note.
This first note disappears.

1) I was able to download your attached Finale v27 document.

2) I am still unable to reproduce your problem.

I tried in a fresh, new document - and I followed your steps to the letter.

I also tried in your attached Finale document.

For me, the grace note is inserted when I click in front of the first note.

And no notes disappear.

Are you sure you clicked in front of the first note ? (and not on the first note)

At what zoom percentage are you viewing the Finale document ?

Have you tried a higher zoom percentage ? (View menu > Zoom > …)

Arhh. That is the solution; to insert before the note. I took the acciaccatura as a kind of "articulation" to the note and clicked on the note itself.

You are right that zooming in a bit more will help.
