Program freezes. I repeatedly follow the steps outlined in a previous thread-trash the 2014.5 preference, reboot zapping pram, and things straighten out for awhile...now that fix doesn't work at all! I'm using Yosemite on a 2011 Mac Mini. Thanks!!!

The only thing I could suggest at this point would be uninstall and reinstall Finale.

Thanks...do I have to find a disk somewhere, or is this a download opened with my serial number, which I have?

You can go to your account on the Finale site, and tap My Software. You should be able to download it from there.

Thank you so much! For the moment the app is stable. Some of the time I wasn't even able to see the Finale 2014.5 preference in my preferences folder! FYI-this problem generally kicks in when I go back and forth between two open files. Don't know if it makes a difference, but in this case I began by converting a 2005 score for piano, flute and clarinet. Had no problem working on the piano parts to all four movements, but the issues kicked in after I extracted the wind parts.

Perhaps you should not “go back and forth between two open files”.

My guess is that it is safer to close the first Finale document before you open the second Finale document.
