Windows 10, Finale 26

Has anyone used or tried to use a Wacom tablet for Simple Entry or otherwise.

I am considering it, as my mouse just isn't as accurate and sensitive as I would like it to be (I've tried a few, and in a few configurations).

Thank you!

I haven't used a Wacom tablet in 25 years or so. Back then, it was pretty terrible with Finale.

I hate the mouse as an input device. Nowadays, I use a multi-gesture trackpad (Apple Magic Trackpad 2) and it's fantastic but I'm on a Mac — no idea what's out there for Windows users.

Thanks, Mike,

I recently had a custom computer built for me but for some reason the wireless mice "stumbles" a bit (I tried four mice) so I went back to the wired mouse. It's fine for most things, but Simple Entry and Speedy Entry are not precise unless I zoom in to about 120% on my 27" monitor.
I had hoped that a quality tablet and pen might be more accurate--and I do a lot of Photoshop work.

Checking other forums, the general consensus is to use the computer keyboard/strokes in preference to the mouse.

I've tried the touchpad on my laptop, and I hate it. Maybe I didn't give it enough time to learn it. I keep a corded mouse in the bag.

I had to switch from the Magic Mouse back to a standard corded mouse on my desktop, because the cordless didn't play nice with SmartScore. (I wasn't the only user who reported this.)

Just my opinion, though. Can you borrow a tablet from a friend to try it?

Hi Mike,

Me, too, on a Windows PC laptop.

No access to a tablet, but with my PC laptop and desktop I have had to use a wired setup.

I've used a Logitech wireless mouse for years with Finale without ever having a problem. Works perfectly, now with the latest version MX Anywhere 2S (with Finale 2014.5 on Win 8.1 though, maybe it's different with Fin26 and WIN10 ...). Have you tried this one?

Mike M,

The wireless mice have all worked fine with Finale. And it worked with SmartScore X. It's SmartScore64 that's the problem.

Thanks for your feedback.

In my case, it's not a mouse problem with Finale, but with the computer. My wireless connection, simply put, is jerky.

With my previous computer (R.I.P. after nine good years) I had no trouble clicking and dragging notes in Speedy Window.
Now, unless I zoom in, notes on spaces usually respond, but notes on lines do not.

But this problem of jerky response is not limited to Finale, which is why I have been considering a Wacom tablet with pen. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone with a tablet on which to experiment, but I might end up getting a new one to use with Photoshop.

Really? I use a Magic Trackpad 2 and have no problem using it with SmartScore64.
