Finale 27

I've tried adding more notes and Finale will not allow me. I've tried copying and pasting and that doesn't work. I've tried using simple entry - when I use my keyboard I can see them as I play my keyboard. However, when I leave simple entry, they're not there.

Please specify the steps you’ve already taken (to solve the problem), so that we can rule out things.

You tell that you have tried copying and pasting (was the Copy Filter on or off?)

You tell that you have tried using Simple Entry (with computer keyboard or with MIDI keyboard?)

Have you tried anything else?

Such as e. g. rebooting the computer, or resetting Finale’s Preferences?

On addition, we need to know Windows or Mac and how big the files is currently.

Hello Peter and Mike,

Thanks for your help.

See below:

You tell that you have tried copying and pasting (was the Copy Filter on or off?) I've tried copying and pasting. If I delete some notes from any measure, than I'm able to copy the same number of notes to another measure. I'm not sure how to check if the copy filter is on, but it's worked in the past.

You tell that you have tried using Simple Entry (with computer keyboard or with MIDI keyboard?) I've tried both methods.

Have you tried anything else? I've tried using earlier versions of the same file and it's the same issue.

Such as e. g. rebooting the computer, or resetting Finale’s Preferences? YES

On addition, we need to know Windows or Mac and how big the files is currently. Windows 10 Pro

Hector Armienta,

The file size is quite big for a Finale document. I wonder why.

- many measures, many staves?

If I Recall Correctly, there is a limit of 32,767 active frames.

You can sometimes get a few frames back if you run the "remove unused items" task. If you're reaching the limit, you need to split the file.

An active frame is a measure on a staff that contains note/rest entries. A measure that contains expressions/chords but no actual entries, is not an active frame. If contents show up in the Speedy Entry box, it's an active frame.
