I imported an XML file of French horn band part.

After editing on Finale, the playback is in the wrong key.

Is there a way to transpose the pitch down a P5 and still see the original horn music?

Finale 26.3.1

Tracy, do you mean that you want to see both the original key and the concert pitch in the same doc, but on two staves?

I was hoping to record a video of Finale playing the file and send the video to my student to practice,

but the music is not playing in concert pitch. I would need two staves unless that is the fix.  Thank you.

Tracy Behrman,

If I understand you correctly, you only need one staff - right?

And the staff unfortunately is now displaying and playing back in the same key - right?

In Other Words: now {Display Pitch} = {Playback Pitch} - right?

But you need the staff displaying in Transposed Pitch, and playing back in Concert Pitch - right?

This is a matter of the Staff Transposition.

Look in

Window menu > ScoreManager > Instrument List

In the lower right corner you will find a pop up menu for Transposition.

You need the (F) transposition which will establish the needed relation between display and playback.

As a further point make sure in Document>Display in Concert Pitch is not checked.

I imported an XML file of French horn band part.

Typically an XML file imports in the key it is originally written in.
