Some of my older scores won't play certain instruments, even when I create a new score, copy the notation from the older one (which shows up with many weird symbols) so I have to mix and match audio choices for bass, while using better sounds for the rest of the string orchestra parts. And Finale keeps quitting on me when I try to assign Aria.

I thought all of this was due to an older computer, so I took out a loan and bought a mini mac M2 Pro, but now it's even worse. Went to the website and downloaded MAC_Garritan_Personal_Orchestra_5 and installed it in case the migration from the old computer was at fault, but now Finale keeps quitting on me. I have been using this program for many decades in a love/hate relationship because of the number of bugs, but this has become ridiculous.

Mac Sonoma 14.1.2 with Finale 17. 27.3.0.160

You are using v27.3 in Sonoma.

I suspect that you can not add instruments in the Instrument List (this is a well known problem with Sonoma).

There is a free Finale Update to version 27.4 - which works in Sonoma.

Thanks. I just discovered the update when I opened Finale--which didn't show up yesterday after hours of struggle. Everything is working now.

Julie,

While you are upgrading take a look at Note Performer 4, way better sounds than Garritan.

...  because of the number of bugs, ...

What specific "bugs"?  Here is the place to ask questions as there are many knowledgeable folks here that may help the "bug" issues. Some bugs are actually user based and not Finale. Plus 27.4 did address some bugs along with the update to Sonoma OS. Although it seems MM has broken the PDF print utility but there is a maintenance update coming to address that soon.
