WIN10

Finale v27.4.1.110

I almost always use Click Assignment to add lyrics, the issues is when moving from one lyric to another then wanting to Click Assignment a sing word or syllable. I'll try to explain...

Added Verse 1 to score using Click Assignment then change to Verse 2 and do the same, then Verse 3 and so on. I now find that I need to go back to Verse 1 because I missed a syllable or word. In the Lyrics box I click on the missed lyric and when I click the note the first syllable or word in the Lyric box is place in the score on that note. I then have to Ctrl-Z, click the missing word and then it is correctly placed on the note. BTW- I know I can use layers 1 & 2 in the bass clef but I chose to use layers 3 & 4.

Lyrics have been a hot mess for years. They say that a complete overhaul is planned, but I doubt it will ever happen.

When you click on a work in the lyric window, and then click on the click-assign icon, the selection always jumps back to the beginning. Another Finale screwup. Click the click-assign icon first, and then find your lyric.

You can keep trying to get the lyrics unscrewed, but in my experience, sometimes the easiest way is to clear the lyrics of that verse from the score, and click-assign them again.

And, of course, be sure you’re in the correct layer.

Try "Type in to score" instead of "Click Assignment".

For those interested, I found a workaround. When switching between lyrics, verse 1 to verse 2 for example, click off the Click Assignment, select Type Into Score for example. Then select Click Assignment, click to select syllable, put into the score.
