How do I update a Finale 2005 score to the current version of Finale?

Windows Finale or Mac Finale?

Anyway, try changing the file name extension to .musx - and now it should be possible to open the v2005 document in v27.

Then, v27 will convert the v2005 file format to the v27 file format.

Then, save the v27 format document, and you are done.

(in Windows) you don't need to change the file extension. Just open it like any file, it opens as "Untitled"

Then give it a name and it'll be saved in the new .musx format (without changing anything in the original file)

If you let us know Windows or Mac, we can give better answers.

I am Windows 11 and Finale 27.4.1 and I have not ever had any problems opening old Finale files. Like mentioned above if Window's just open it.

Windows 11.  I have tried all of these solutions, but it is still acts like a  Finale 2006.3 file with the .musx extension.  Nothing updates at all.
I even copied and pasted into a new Finale 27 chart, but all of the Expressive marks turn into giant numbers.

Robert,

I would be willing to look at one of your files that's causing issues if you care to email me one.

My email altered to prevent spammers is e e biggs one at gmail dot com. Use normal email verbiage no spaces and the number 1 instead of one.
