Windows 10. Finale 2014.5

When Finale scrolls through my files to play them back the playback is at least a beat behind the scrolling cursor (or whatever it is called).  I find this very disconcerting.  Should this be happening and if it shouldn't how can I fix it?

Quit and restart Finale. Does that work? It does for me, but there may be easier ways to reset it. Maybe someone else has the easier solution.

If quitting and relaunching Finale has no effect, try lowering the Buffer Size setting under MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > Audio Setup.

Also, if you installed Windows 10 as an upgrade, make sure to visit your computer manufacturer's site to download the latest Windows 10 driver for your sound card.

Hello,

In Playback the tempo slows down drastically after few measures from the start of the score. I am listening to an old score written on about a 20 year old Finale version. Now I am using Finale 14.5 on Windows 10  HELP it is driving me crazy...

Thank you for your time,

PS. please don't use my old email shaul@fluteworld.com it is no longer in service ( I sold the company)

Hi Shaul Ben-Meir

Could it be that the old file has Midi data embedded in the score?

Use the selection tool and select the entire document

Then from the main menu, Edit->Clear Selected Items...

Click on "None", then click on MIDI Data->Tempo Changes

Finally, click on OK

Try playing the score now.

If there are still issues, you might want to post a copy here (you will need to upload it to a file sharing service such as dropbox, then provide a link)

(P.S. In the future, it would be better to open a new topic with it's own heading rather than to add to someone else's older post. Just a suggestion :) )

Cheers...

Hi Shaul Ben-Meir

When I try to download the file you posted, I get an error message saying that the file does not exist.

You might want to check the link. also, try to remove any spaces in the file name. Sometimes they cause problems when trying to upload to or download from the internet.

Cheers...

Hi Shaul Ben-Meir

Unfortunately I still get an error message telling me that file file does not exist.

It might be easiest for you to go to the old forum http://forum.makemusic.com/ and create a new topic in the windows sub-forum. The old forum will allow you to upload the file directly.

Once you start a new topic (give a nice descriptive title and mention that you've been sent there from here), click on the button marked "attacment manager". A new window will pop up similar to this

Use the "browse" button to locate your file, then click "upload file"

Once the file has been successfully uploaded, you will see "* Your attachment has been uploaded" written in red, and the file will be listed in the lower portion of the window.

Hope to see you there.

Cheers...
