Can someone help me learn how to create music with Finale? I understand I can use it to create simple songs for children - with only Treble clef, large staffs and notes with the letters on them. 

I would appreciate any assistance anyone can give me.

On Startup, click on the Setup Wizard, Look for General, then Educator. This might be what you want as-is. More likely, you will want to modify it a bit and save as one of your templates.

There are quickstart videos, getting started help, and tutorials available through the Help Menu which can help you get started setting up files and entering notes.

Finale won't create your music. You do that. Finale can only notate what you compose.

As suggested, start with the videos. When you have specific questions, we can answer them.
